About The Artwork

For several years we now, have the discussion about online exhibitionism or narcissism. I friend of mine said once, we live in an age “where it’s all about getting found.” For me, this is not only true for people but also for cooperations, brands, and products. It’s all about getting noticed by the huge and anonymous online audience. How can we get their attention? How can we impress them? In this context I seethe web as our Coliseum. In the middle, some people are trying to get “thumbs up,” but the audience is only there to see them eaten by lions. Thumbs down. Digital Gladiator 1 to 3 is a photoseries showing a pretty girl killing herself in front of the webcam. She is willing to risk her life to get some of those visits, some “thumbs up,” or just to get found. She uses electricity, firepower, and poison. Video: http://clemensbartlome.com/digital-gladiator/

Tim Smith raised in the mountain part of Switzerland. After studying one year at the college of art in Zurich he made his master degree in economics at the University Zurich. In 2012 Tim focused on conceptual society art, which is still the main direction of his work. Tim lives and works in Zurich. Statement: Create! Interview: "I can summarize who I am in three words: Innovative, Social and Passionate. Those three words are playing a key role in my work as an artist. Innovation is the reason why I did my master degree in Economics at the University of Zurich and co-founded a marketing consulting company. I do have an economic view on innovation and I agree with the growing economic doctrine based on technology, entrepreneurship and innovation. Innovation means to risk something, to have the courage to try, and fail and to create new things. In my artworks, I try hard to do things different and not just copy and paste. That's why I created a new sub art category named "conceptual society art". This brings me to the next word: Society. Back in the days, I used say I love people and watching them. I still do but I'm not sure if the future needs us. Even if not, I will not stop trying to leave this world a little better than I found it - as Robert Baden-Powell advised. Art has the potential and the burden to change the peoples view without forcing them. This is what I try to do with my artworks and art-experiments. That's what I'm passionate about then only with passion we are able to reach for the stars to change the world."
