About The Artwork

On many warm fall and winter days there is a lot of moisture(water) in the air. As the night gets very cold, the moisture precipitates out of the cold air and deposits the dew drops on many surfaces. If the air temperature drops below freezing, the dew is deposited as ice instead of drew drops. This image shows bunch of grasses which have been totally covered with these icy crystals. If the day temperatures remain below freezing for several days, the ice crystals continue to build up as on the grass seen in this image. I was up very early on one of those very cold days to find the grasses covered in this "hoar frost". See the other images of grass and ice from this same cold day.
