Beauty is nothing but the unveiling of a fallen darkness and the light that came out of it. (Alda Marini) Humble is a series of "portraits" of simple wildflowers, used in the traditional Italian cuisine and common medicine. It is a research about mysterious and magical beauty of flowers, which scientists say have given an important impetus to the development of Life as we know it on our planet. To do this, I lie down on the ground and approach the flower very intimately, breathe its qualities, look at its shape and colors, connect and when this is active, the shot takes place. Everything else happens in digital post-production. All quoted dimensions represent the actual printed image size, not the paper size. The print is a Giclée on fine art high quality photo paper Pearl Ultra White 250 gr/mq. All prints are numbered and labelled with artist's signature and finger print, attached to the back of the print and comes with a certificate of authenticity by the artist. Salvatore Calì Italian artist born in Sicily (Misterbianco, 16 May 1966), currently lives and works in Gorizia (Italy). Conceptual and multidisciplinary artist, after technical-scientific studies he approaches the making of art by himself. Active since 1987, he resumed his work in 2010 after a ten-year hiatus. Calì is profoundly inspired by his study with Marko Pogacnik (cofounder OHO conceptual group Ljublijana based), and the artistic pratiche coming from Marina Abramovich, Joseph Beuys, Bill Viola, Richard Long... Photography, video and performance are the main means by which it expresses reflections on issues where spirituality, science, nature, social discourse become gestures, actions and works, which interact with the natural and human ecosphere (the invisible "collapses" in the space of reality). In this sense, art and life meet in a common utopian denominator, the ability to be able to change our reality or at least the perception that we have of it.
