About The Artwork

Using the slick, contemporary and gimmicky medium of lenticular photography Derek Walker likes to make failure visible. This lenticular 3D print is a direct pastiche of the dust cover of the highly acclaimed book 'Shock Of The New' by Robert Hughes. The artist clearly uses the distinctive and now iconic print registration bounce to pose the question of how much is really explained and understood within art. Using Robert Hughes as critical anchor the artist is brutally honest and unapologetic when positioning this piece towards what he calls the 'risible visible' and 'the shock of nothing new'. https://vimeo.com/119920775
