Identification "Who am I?" — this question is not so easy to answer today. Neither belonging to a family, nor nationality, nor even gender is no longer a basis for self-determination today. Each idea should be critically examined, sharpened for itself and adjusted in the general pattern of the personality. Identity today is a mosaic of ideas that are have to be selected with great effort by looking around the world and at the same time listening to your deep self. Like a real mosaic, which an artist lays out of smalt, this is a long and traumatic process. Before starting to assemble a picture, an artist splits the colored plates of glass smalt. Shards hurt fingers, every square centimeter of the mosaic takes hours of work. Before assembling oneself in a harmonious unity of forms and colors, a person has to split the ideas about oneself and the figures that are important to him or her. Until the identity is not found, there is only the outline of the self—image - a figure in the background. Gradually, it will be filled with precious fragments of smalt: a full variety of ideas, tolerance and compromises that will allow a person to make the world richer with his presence. Before that, there is only black and white, "bad and good". And the only color at the beginning of the path is scarlet. The color of blood, which marks becoming through pain. Soon other colors will fill this contour. Besides pain, there will be life, hope, joy, and a dream. In the meantime, the uncertainty of the shadow man, who has only bad, good and pain.

The artist works in-depth with light, allocating colour accents, and denying the photo corrections. She creates all the photos exclusively by technical means, experiments with optical spot shoot and shutter speed. Irina creates a collage effect by alternately switching different light sources. The ideological basis of the works lies in a modern man’s psychology and opportunity to find happiness. In her works, the artist examines fears, uncertainty, dependencies and codependent relationships, the isolation of a person from his biological essence and traditional roots. Her task is to show the psychotherapeutic effect of her work.
