This portrait is one of a series of works that were made a week before the introduction of the lockdown in Russia due to covid. Even then it was clear that everything would change and we would have to re-learn how to find beauty in what was happening. All these means of protection against covid were terrifying, images of the 16th century with unimaginable collars came to mind, which is why this shot was born. So the terrible turned into something beautiful. Last breath before lockdown.
