About The Artwork

A rocking chair in the barn at Eagle Pond Farm in Wilmot where internationally renowned Poets Jane Kenyon and Donald Hall lived. The image originally had a few leaves around the rockers of the chair and it made me think about the metaphor of poems as leaves, or conversely leaves as poems. This led me to create this montage combining the base image ("Green Chair and Red cushion on a rocker") with another image I created a few years prior titled "A Rustling of Leaves" - a collective noun I believe coined originally by me - with the original image to create this image. Printed, with archival inks, in a limited edition of 100 signed originals with a certificate of authenticity.

Wayne D. King is an accomplished photographer and imaginative artist. His work can be found in the collections of a broad range of people including Livingston Taylor, Koko Taylor, Richard Merritt, Bill Bradley, W. Richard West Jr, Bruce Babbitt, Bill Clinton, Adhiambo Odaga, Bill Russell, Valerie Jarrett, James West, and others. His images are a celebration of life, blending the real and the surreal to achieve a sense of place or time that reaches beyond the moment into what he calls "a dreamlike quintessentialism" designed to spark an emotional response. Using digital enhancement, handcrafting, painting, and sometimes even straight photography, King takes the viewer to a place that is beyond simple truth to where truth meets passion, hope, and dreams.
