About The Artwork

"A different actor for each gesture" Mannequins as a topic are very fascinating to me, it is the idea of creating an "artificial man" by another man. At first, my interest in mannequins was awakened by the literature: Bruno Schulz's "Tractate on Mannequins" and Bruno Jasieński's "Mannequin Ball", which I had the opportunity to read in original Russian a few years ago. During winter 2015/16 I was in Turkey - in Istanbul, where I had the opportunity to visit many factories, where mannequins are manufactured. At that time, a series of photos was created, which is a compatible element of the project called "A different actor for each gesture". In my opinion, mannequins are still functioning in a free-frame convention - hence the title of the work taken from Bruno Schulz's "Tractate on Mannequins" . The mannequins can express only one gesture, they have one smile or a grimace on their faces - they are frozen in one pose, they are actors of one gesture. Stepan Rudik Awards: honorable mention in the Environmental Publication of the Year competition (London). Exhibitions: Collective exhibitions in: London (UK), Mexico (Maxico), Washington (USA). Individual exhibition: Poznan (Poland). My credo is: "It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see" Henry David Thoreau _____ * Author’s Limited Edition – Fine Art Pigment Print, signed and numbered by the Author on the recto. * Photograph on high quality paper Hahnemuelhe and Canson.
