About The Artwork

project: Microcosmos "Microcosmos" is a photographic unit that exposes the intricate world of microscopic patterns and enchanting landscapes hidden in the smallest details. Through a meticulous exploration of the everyday phenomenon of water droplets drying on various surfaces, this work reveals a fascinating microcosmic realm that reflects the majesty of the universe. The resulting images look like sprawling galaxies, skyscapes and cosmic phenomena, all formed by the crystalline structures left behind by evaporating water droplets. The skillful use of salts and the technique of macro photography made me reflect on the amazing beauty of the infinitesimal. It is a further reminder that the microcosm and the macrocosm are inextricably linked, reflecting the interconnectedness of all things in our universe.

Orestis Ilias is a visual artist, based in Athens, who deals with conceptual, story telling and documentary photography. On the other hand works on abstract paintings, murals and street art. The basic perception that permeates the majority of his projects is the concept of individual and collective memory. Ιn his works he seeks the expression of human emotions, most of the time without the depiction of people. His projects are basically influenced by social, political and humanistic stimuli. Through the works he shows how he sees the outside world, connecting his inwardness to the external movement driven by feelings of self and embodied experience.
