Music Advertising Poster Abstract, NYC, 1979, Limited Edition Print

An abstract composition with a poster for the artist France Joli. I believe the square was painted on the building by the fire department. However, that was irrelevant to me. I was interested in the textures and the repetition of the squares. It seemed like a painting. Found on the upper west side of Manhattan on 10th Ave. in late October 1979. The image was made with a medium format TLR camera and fine grain transparency film. In the 70's, I was one of the very few working in color as it was not considered stable enough to be sold as fine art. I had a different opinion. Obviously, it was. This is a new print from the original transparency and it is better than I made then with an enlarger in a darkroom Between 1978 and 1980, my work was represented by the Alonzo Gallery on W.57th St. and appeared in many exhibitions. In 2009 I was one of four photographers featured in the second issue of COLOR magazine and featured about 16 images from this period. This new print is made on 22" X 17" Epson Exhibition Fiber paper with Epson K2 pigment inks, which are very stable. The image measures 15" X 15" and is titled and numbered on the lower left in archival pen. It is signed and dated with the year of creation, on the lower right, in archival pen. On the reverse, in pencil appears the date of the print, type of paper, and ink type. The artist's thumb print is also on the reverse. A Certificate of Authenticity is included, also with the artist's signature and thumb print.
