Originally photographed for the Mercury nominated 2005 debut album campaign for Maximo Park's A Certain Trigger, this shot is part of a series photographed by Ian Davies. Ian photographed a series of models/artists and friends in a style that was to show both caught energy and stress. This particular shot shows the lead singer of Maximo Park - Paul Smith. The album artwork originally did not show the face of Paul Smith, but Ian felt the gritted teeth and facial expression shown on his face contributes to the overall shot. 'One of my favourite shoots inspired by the superb Robert Longo's charcoal drawings. Paul Smith, the lead singer, broke down at one point during the shoot, I think the early morning travel from Newcastle to the studio in London had had an affect on him, but he was a real trouper and after resting he got right back into energy mode. This shot almost showing him flying gives you some indication of the drive he has.'
