About The Artwork

This work was inspired by the wardrobe we had available and the way she glided in the water wearing it. Spending time underwater offers a different alternative perspective and I love how its captured in this image. It is a metal print, directly on aluminum which provides a gorgeous image with a very wet look giving a sense of depth to the image. It includes a floating mount hanger that makes it appear to float just off the wall.

Rudi Halbright is a California based photographer who specializes in underwater portraiture and fashion in additional to land-based photography. He is currently completing his sub(merge) project which will be exhibited at Coffee Mission starting on February 4, 2017. You may contact Rudi at rudi@halbright.com. Rudi grew up in Queens, New York City. His father an immigrant to the United States owned a menswear store and his mother, a first generation American, a school teacher. His father was an avid amateur photographer while his mother preferred recording super 8 film of his life growing up. Later in life, post-retirement his mother discovered a love of painting and her beautiful work decorated their home. It was in 3rd grade that Rudi discovered photography, first with a Polaroid Pronto and then a couple of years later with an Agfa 35mm camera. Rudi enjoyed documenting life as he experienced it, making portraits for friends and in general seeing the world through the lens. In high school he photographed for the yearbook and in college first became one of the main photographers and then the editor in chief of Carnegie Mellon’s Thistle year book. In his junior year he sold his first photograph that he had taken at a local democratic debate between Jessie Jackson and Michael Dukakis. After graduation, Rudi pursued a different career, putting his photography in the back burner and in 2001 began a full time career as a photographer.
