About The Artwork
Art can distort aspects of reality to create parallel universes which challenge our perception of it. Like in myths, dreams and stories,the characters in my work are archetypes created from unconscious, universal patterns of ideas. As an artist i use my spiritual power to redefine expressions and share my visual creations in an accessible and contemporary way. Surrounding ourself with beauty in places where we live and work. Collect (my) art by the heart! I have developed a special technique where I build up collages by alternating layers of images with images made on transparent plates and creating a flattering layering, over which I paint and apply layers of beeswax to merge everything together. I finish the whole with a special wax varnish. I take photo's of details or spaces i work and print them as they belong in the sewrie. My latest series was inspired by African roots and rituals. The work is intuitive and created by doing, there is no preconceived plan. IMA

I studied painting at the art academy and started my career as an artist in Amsterdam. After a number of scholarships from the Dutch fund for visual arts, it was time to pack my bags in search of new adventures. A long voyage on a coaster, an impressive trip to the New York museums, and after Lisbon I started to hang out in Paris for quite some time, before taking root in Brussels for years. Interdisciplinary working always had my interest, and i started collaborating in the dance and performance world, I worked for a creative laboratory, and a decade in the top of the food design world. I was able to manage many high level exciting projects and was able to travel to Tokyo, New York, Berlin, Taipei, Kiev, Madrid. But finally Ima is and remains an visual artist and I'm very happy to be back at my roots and create beautiful artwork again. Iorking from my large studio surrounded by nature in a small village and the biggest lake of Holland. Back to the roots, clouds and water, all registers open.
