About The Artwork

On nights when there is even the slightest swell surfers hit the water off of Ipanema Beach. This photo was taken just after sunset. The two cloud shrouded mountains are called Doas Irmaos, Or 2 Brothers. The beaches along the right are Leblon, Ipanema and Arpoador. The spot I am at taking the photo is a rock outcropping that is part of a park. The park is crowded most nights with people watching the sun set. I spent days here watching the sun set, it never gets old and is never the same. If you are ever in Rio you must go to Parque Garota de Ipanema and watch the sun set. Limited edition prints come with a certificate of authenticity. The Limited Edition versions of this piece will be printed on Kodak Professional Supra Endura Metallic paper. Kodak Metallic paper is my favorite for showcasing any color art, the images seem to come alive. As a bonus, this Limited Edition Print comes mounted on 1/8" thick Masonite, so it is ready to be framed.

As a pre-teen and teen I was fortunate enough to work with the Savannah Science Museum on a Sea Turtle Tagging project, The Carreta Research Project, as well as numerous studies of reptiles and amphibians. This, along with having a family that always seemed to be outdoors, lead to my love of everything in nature and an appreciation of the beauty all around us. I began to take photography seriously in 1984 when I purchased my first 35mm camera, a Minolta X700. In 1985 I joined the Navy and was stationed in Sigonella Sicily, there I met up with a local photographer and we ended up sharing a studio. He did film processing and sold film and accessories, I used the back room for portraits and also sold some of my scenery shots from around the countryside and photographed the occasional wedding. After leaving Sicily in 1988 I still worked as a photographer as a side gig shooting weddings, sporting events and corporate functions. I still went out and spent time in nature shooting wildlife and scenery photos, selling a few "wall hangers" along the way. My work in the military and in the oilfield has taken me to over 50 countries. I was fortunate enough to able to spend time with my camera in most of these places. I have decided that I want to share my photography with a broader audience than I have so far, that is why I am partnering with Saatchi Art to showcase my work.
