Burkhard Felies draws his creative inspiration from careful observation of his environment. His unique approach is reflected in the way he perceives patterns in nature in a special way and then translates these impressions into his creative work, be it photography or painting. He loves the natural textures and colors of the world. The imperfect, the moment and the fleeting are all things he captures on canvas. He makes art because he loves the process of creating something unique. His paintings are multi-layered, combining both abstract and figurative art with a focus on light and shadow, textures and details. Both strong and subtle colors and surface structures inspire him. His images can vary between opulent and minimalist motifs. When he begins to paint abstractly, he flows with the colors and often surprises himself with what emerges as a finished painting: "I have no restrictions because art is free and cannot be restricted."
