About The Artwork

I asked a Chinese Street Artist to make 7 watercolor illustrations in her calligraphic style usually used for the names of tourists and taken home as a souvenir of the Big Apple, but here as seven “dirty” words. This was then combined into a single print showing all 7 of them: shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits. This conceptual work combines both street art and found objects in a fun way. It's one of a series planned for an installation paying homage to George Carlin’s famous routine “Seven dirty words you can’t say on television” and a reminder 50 years later of the continued censorship and suppression of free speech on network television.

I began actively pursuing my interest in art while I was in graduate school at NYU. This focused on the visual arts, first as a photographer and then as an early explorer in video art. My creative drive then found voice in a career as an independent toy and game inventor. I've created and licensed all types of toys and games, the most well-known of which is Tickle Me Elmo. About 12 years ago I started making art again. Initially this explored sculpture (2005 to 2007), then various types of image projects embodied in a series of art books (2009-2013), followed by a return to video and animation (2014-2018) In the past year, I’ve tapped into this body of work, figuring out ways to show and sell my art. I suppose you could classify me as a visual and conceptual artist. My work is guided by a few basics. Make something interesting in a playful way and express its beauty.
