The lips represent the primary tool of communicating with others, but their power can be even stronger when they remain shut. This piece explores the idea of keeping silent, and what it means to the person who makes this choice. They may feel like they are being torn apart from the torments they are experiencing, and the struggle to stay silent can become painful. It makes one wonder why this pain is preferable to speaking up, and what our role is in this choice as their friend, relative, or just fellow human being.
