About The Artwork
Speculum means opposite reflection, mirror. This is a concept really important to me. In this picture two specular figures contain a Nafana Bedu mask. The Nafana are a Senufo people living in the north-west of Ghana and the north-east of Côte d'Ivoire, in the area east of Bondoukou. This mask represent the "Male", because of his horns over the head.
