Built 1933 in Germany as "Gorch Fock". Taken over by USSR after WW2 as war reparations and renamed "Tovarisch', meaning 'Comrade'. Used as a sail training ship to train Soviet Naval Crews. Now laid up in Stralsund. On 29 November 2003 the ship was re-christened Gorch Fock. I preferred the image in Sepia, replicating the Victorian fashion for images of that period. Originally photographed in Black & White film by me at the 1992 Tall Ships meeting, in Liverpool and later scanned into digital and converted to sepia. I hope the image conveys something of the great age of sail from that period and the abilities of the people who built these magnificent vessels. Each print - HAND SIGNED' by me.
