SWEET THINGS (ARE MADE OF ME) "This multimedia art project aims to examine overuse of beauty products, and to critically study beauty culture ideology. The feminine subject is seen to choose beauty as an constant practice of self-love, however beauty work falls neatly within market-mediated ideals and market dictated routines. Women's bodies, particularly their faces, became sites for consumption and self-expression. Imagery of ageless flawless beauty is utilized by massive commercial interests to create a beauty culture. The Beauty Consumers accept corporate skincare regimes and aspire to emulate the perfect beauty in the advertising imagery, despite having constructed careful discourses of distrust towards false advertising and media." Bojana is a Sao Paulo based Serbian artist working in a variety of media including painting, drawing, video and installation. Her work has been awarded and exhibited around the world, including museums and galleries in U.S.A., Great Britain, Spain, India, Brazil and Serbia. As a graphic designer she works in a number of areas ranging from identity and branding systems through packaging and publication designs to environmental graphics and furniture design. Bojana got her start with a MA degree in visual arts from Belgrade University of Fine Arts and Specialisation in Multimedia Design from Belgrade Design Academy.
