What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? A sense of vast openness with a calming feeling. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? I chose to manipulate a photo rather then paint this one because the photo was more meaningful from being an actual memory of this place.

About the Artist Katie Dahl is best known for her collage like painting. She pieces together personal images then replicates them in paint. “My work is a juxtaposition of images that come and go during the photo choice process to the composition process and the painting process.” She begins with a common phrase that transforms into meaningful and inspirational pieces of art. Katie has a background in fine arts painting and drawing, photography, wildlife conservation, marine mammal rescue and teaching art to k-12th grade students.
