About The Artwork

Frank Alldis was my Foster Parent from 1951 to 1957. In 1978 I made photographs of many of the Alldis family photos. I was inspired to preserve my memories of the Alldis Family. This portrait of Frank means a lot to me because of his reference to Time. In my artwork I have studied and thought about time extensively. In a way this portrait connects Frank Alldis to my intellectual interest in Time.

I work in Yosemite National Park as a tour guide. I have worked in Yosemite for over 30 years. My artwork is inextricably tied to my Yosemite Geography and my ecological message. I am a plein air painter, print maker, and photographer. I also write and illustrate my own books. I am the author of "A Brief Instruction in Christian Religion," (A translation of Faustus Socinus), "The Chronicles of the Field Mouse Timothy," (Corn,Tomato,Wheat, Cotton, Sweet Potatoes, Rice Paddy, Pond Mouse and Yosemite), "Nature Vision" (Poems), and I have illustrated the short stories of my late daughter Sandra Fontana "Cereal at Midnight." I love nature and the wilderness. I am a proponent of the global national parks movement.
