About The Artwork
I have a studio / Gallery in the heart of Denver's Santa-Fe arts district which has a very popular First Friday Arts walk. Often I will take advantage of this situation by setting up a unique scene and asking people to pose for me, I call it the Portrait Parade. I chose tin foil hats that month. Using techniques developed as an editorial and commercial photographer, I create portraits that allow my subjects to be full participants in the experience. We play with cultural norms, allowing participants to create alternative versions of themselves. The best part of the image making is not always the final photograph but the experience. Together we create uncanny portraits that play with the concepts of truth and fiction.
