This photograph has been made during my second Himalayan trek in 2018, a long pilgrimage adventure through the Northern reaches of Nepal, where the mountains became my refuge and my storyteller. This is an exploration of my own artistic journey. It’s a philosophical and psychological excavation which I am trying to unravel. It’s a part of me which was present since I was just an adolescent, before even knowing that photography was going to be my voice. My work is influenced by various styles, amongst others, a few painters and photographers that bring a certain mystical romantic vibe to their art - like Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Kees van Dongen, Breitner, August Sander, Joel Sternfeld, David Hockney, Lucian Freud, Rothko. My intention as an artist to put a mirror in front of the viewer. To look at themselves. The process of making a photograph is like looking for a resemblance of mood, mind or spirit.
