About The Artwork

This is an archival lithograph printed on rag paper The female image is based on Anouk Aimee's appearance in a black and white Fellini film, "La Dolce Vita." She says these words to Marcello Mastroianni's character. It's a universal human sentiment that many don't admit to. Cake and eat it and all that. After the painting was sold I decided to make archival prints of the image. The parrot is my maroon-bellied conure, "Sharkey". Parrots have been used to symbolize many meanings in paintings; from happiness and beauty to deceit and treachery. It can run the gamut in this one. Couple that with the night sky and full moon to conjure up all kinds of interpretation.
