Sunflowers and the sweep of a blade is a culmination of community connectivity during covid19. Sunflowers is a deconstruction of a still life of Australian proteas and brilliant bold sunflowers. In a flurry of electric inspiration Whitting transformed the perfectly picturesque still life in a two minute whirlwind with the sweep of blade hiding its realism, revealing its truth and concealing the concept behind its creation. Resilience - camouflage- the vase and flowers are and always will be at the core, thick, brilliant loving layers of energetic pure colour - no matter what tools dissect or scrape it away - they remain - and somehow a more sophisticated and mature artwork evolved through the process.... the finished work has been feverously scraped back and worn away, it is subdued and more acceptable... not so confronting in impasto floral colour and through the scraping back ….still resonates the inner truth of the original work... Look inside the texture and discover layers of flora that maintain inner beauty and colourful whimsy after total dissection. #originalart #contemporaryart #artist #artistoninstagram #australianart #artlovers #artforall
