About The Artwork

This artistic work is based on an image created from the appropriation of an anonymous photograph that captures the moment in which a Mexican peasant covers his head with a sack and ties his hands with ropes as a sign of protest against a government that He is trapped in a situation with no way out for him, due to poverty and social marginalization. In a broader sense, this image also symbolizes a limiting situation in which we can all identify with the feeling of captivity when we find ourselves imprisoned within circumstances that are not under our control. The choice to carry out this work in the lithography technique printed in black and white was due to the fact that this medium allows for a fluid and expressive drawing that manages to strongly communicate the emotion of uncertainty and the feeling of claustrophobia that the image tries to convey to the viewer so that he identifies with this image and sees himself reflected within it.
