Sculpture, Wood on Wood
Size: 16.9 W x 16.9 H x 5.9 D in
Ships in a Crate
This artwork is a diptych, size of each of the two panels is 43x43 cm. Both will be delivered in one box. Sometimes it seems that art production and distribution has become a conveyor. Mass production and mass consumption have become part of artistic practice. Art consumer is being constantly convinced by mass media that art production costs nothing and as a result art becomes depreciated. At the same time costs are elevated and payed not to the artists but spent for marketing. The only way to confront this is to make paper airplanes of those mass media.

"I think art is the only alternative to the consumer society that is taking mankind to nowhere" says sculptor Pavel Voloshin. The idea of Vanity is the core message in his art but it takes different forms each time. Pavel Voloshin started his artistic career as a craftsman and worked for nearly ten years giving body to the ideas of other sculptors. These years of hard work gave him excellence in mastery. Today he can easily embody any of his ideas and he does it in a brilliant manner. Sculpture of the artist is always symbolic. Though you see realistic objects, be it a pomegranate or a rhinoceros, the idea lies deep inside the perfect form and the artist is always ready to explain it. Pavel's favorite material is bronze. Yet, he tends to experiments in techniques, technologies and materials. Unity of art and technology is his artistic credo. In his artwork Pavel Voloshin uses both classic and contemporary highly-technological techniques. Drawing, sculpting and casting are essential for the bronzes Pavel makes. Yet, 3D modeling, digital graphics, laser and waterjet cutting, give new capacities to regular materials. Pavel Voloshin started exhibiting recently. Nevertheless, his sculptures have already entered numerous private collections in Belarus and abroad.
