While studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kyiv, Alex Radionov worked as an assistant to the chief artist at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Young artist was impressed by the art of ballet, the beauty and grace of ballerinas. Several years spent in the theatre gave inspiration to many works. Ballet is one of the central themes of Alex’s art. "Classical ballet was my best source of inspiration. Grace and beauty of ballerinas combining with extremely hard work they do. This combination is shocking and inspiring in the same time. Light and elegance they show on stage worth to be depicted in art. All sculptures of ballet series is a little monuments to this hard art of dancing". The series dedicated to classical ballet includes over 30 sculptures. This sculpture depicts a dancer sitting on a cube. Thin lines, graceful refined shapes give the figure weightlessness. Sculpture made in expressive manner, used patina bronze.

"I dedicate all my life to a classical medias as bronze, stone and wood. I am an old school artist with realism basement and this is my strong skill. I am a poet of female beauty and reflect it in my art. Mythology, classical art and Ballet inspires me. I started my art in a soviet realism manner, witch was only allowed in USSR that time. Later I was experimenting with my style. Today my sculptures are mostly abstract or semi figurative. I work with bronze. wood, marble and mixed medias."
