About The Artwork

I use the ceramic material to generate a set of pieces that evoke different anatomies of organic beings. Through forms and relationships between the parts, I am interested in these sculptures expressing movement and an active and flexible relationship between them in contrast to the material in which they are made. This relationship between hardness and flexibility is present in this diptych. The register of a gesture and a movement in a support that turns it into stone. https://oscarbarbery.com/selection-of-projects/

In the relationship between the forms there is a narrative of proximity, of contact, of encounter, and it is probable that this narrative is not only composed of concepts but fundamentally of sensations. In Oscar Barbery's work, sculpture is the verb, it is the action and it is the subject, its formal constitution is the result of representations of the self-determined movement of matter: undefined bodies that attract, compose and project themselves. The relationship between them suggests a new nature or an amplified nature. A Latin American artist who has lived in Europe for more than 10 years, he works mainly with clay and its ceramic processes. He has been selected by the Museo internazionale delle ceramiche de Faenza in its 2021 residency programme and currently lives and works between Barcelona and Rimini, Italy. His work has been acquired by museums such as the MAC and the Museo Nacional de Arte de Bolivia. She holds a Master's degree in contemporary artistic creation from the University of Barcelona, where she developed POSTRE, a performance festival with 4 editions. She has had solo and group exhibitions and her work has been published in various Latin American contemporary art publications.
