About The Artwork

This a piece of recycled wood from remodel of home/art studio I bought in Auburn Sept 2018. I was compelled to save it and make it useful. The board was cut up into smaller pieces in a pile. I picked it up, sanded it and had 7 different pieces. They became my Life series. I worked on them as a group. They became an extension on what I was feeling and what I needed to release. This one “Finding my strength” represents my daily ability to rise up and overcome my severe fatigue related to my heart issues, past cancer, chronic migraines & constant pain. The red dots are the pain, the are constant and always around and washing over me. Love always wins and reduces my pain, art gives me added joy and decreased pain and more energy. The nails “built-in ease” represent just that. But they serve a purpose, and they are holding up the art. It’s all good.

- [ ] What I paint depends on my heart and mood. I paint in bold colors however the intensity varies from season to season. I do a lot of acrylics and water colors and absolutely love painting “Plein-air”, which is outside in my yard, near my picturesque flowers, birds, and vegetable garden. It’s extremely inspiring, stimulating and uplifting. Wherever I travel, I do photography, and paint. When I paint I wholeheartedly put my entire soul and being into my work. My art is me, and explains me. It may also speak to others. I hope it will. My family are in some of my paintings. My hope is for each and every person to realize they can make a positive difference. Most of us believe we can’t make an impact because we are just one person but any one of us can change the world for the better. Love, Dottie 5-2020
