About The Artwork

The Fou Rire series is directly modeled with red wax and heat. For a long time I wanted to dress up my characters with the gesture of laughter, the fou rire as they say in French. This extreme reaction in which the human being loses control, reaching tears and even shortness of breath for any reason or circumstance. Bourvil and Louis de Funés in Gérard Oury's film “Le Corniaud” have served as inspiration for modeling. The series has been growing, incorporating animal masks to the character, as if it were a carnival or a "bouffonerie". The work is a unique piece and is mounted on an iron base and made of patinated bronze. It measures 29 x 12 x 21 cm and weighs all 2.7 kg.

Olga Caceres was born in Aubervilliers - France and currently lives and works in Madrid (Spain). ARTIST STATEMENT Taking stock of recent years, the variety of sculptural techniques that I work with and the materials that I use enrich a sculptural and thematic language. The story I tell deals with living beings, their feelings and evolutions. Most of the time I work sets of 5 to 15 units. The curiosity to explore and investigate multiple techniques and materials make me independent from the first sketch to the finishing of the work. I enjoy when I work abstract or figurative forms, bronze or wood, carving or welding. Lately, I even complete the sculptural work with photography, as a self-portrait of the artist's feelings. Awards and Contests 2019 – Finalist IV Manel Batlle Sculpture Prize, Granollers. – Selected in the 86 Autumn Hall of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors. 2016 – Selected in Call for Sculpture.
