GEO 1 Print

As an exploration of a different sculptural genre, I took the family of man EXHIBITION OF THE 1950'S and beyond, as a reference point for this and subsequent works in the series. Further works will be added throughout 2019. Characterised by modern shapes and a refreshing palette of colours, the 1950's were in many ways a rebellion against the austerity bought about by the Second World War. A new optimism could be found, starting in the States but soon spreading to Europe and beyond. The outcast of the old to be replaced by the 'new' seemed to offer temporary respite from an ever increasing homogenic lifestyle, where to be 'different' was all too often to be at risk. GEO 1 explores this modernism. Other works n the series to be added thorughout 2019 will further explore this interesting period of huge change and advance for THE FAMILY OF MAN.
