I was inspired to create this sculpture by my own experiences with longing and waiting for love. I wanted to create a piece that would record the sense of nostalgia and longing in me , and that would inspire me to look beyond that feeling and let go ones. I chose the medium of clay and glaze because I wanted to explore the possibilities of these materials and see what kind of sculpture I could create using them and how my intuition comes through with these materials. I chose the subject matter of a red heart emoji on a hill because I felt that it was a powerful symbol of love and we use it in every days situations and some times it means little and other times it has heavier weight. I relate to a sense of nostalgia and longing when they see the sculpture, and that they will be inspired to reach out to their loved ones and express their own feelings of longing. the theme comes from Arabic poetry genre الوقوف على الأطلال, meaning standing over Ruins , meaning to stand on a hill or ruins and think about your missing loved ones .
