About The Artwork
This artwork is about unforgettable memories of springtime in Paris, of pleasures of window shopping, the magic of haute couture, the rise and fall of magazines, the changing media allure, and love of self-discovery. I used primarily an Air France in-flight magazine that I picked up in Paris airport for my inspiration and exploration, and some thread and yarn for my supports. The paper shapes I built from the magazine sit on a tight yarn gridwork wrapping a hoola hoop. They are wrapped, woven and stitched to their foundation, then sprayed with several layers of acrylic sealant. Lightweight, it hangs on one of the yarn openings on one nail on my wall.
