About The Artwork

The idea to create this piece came from the use of paint to create a physical representation of the mind, and auto-generative art. I wanted to crate something that kept the colour and paint constantly moving and recreating itself. One of my outcomes was an elaborate lava head with fluid inside constantly bubbling around. The calm movements of color in the head relate with the fluidity of the mind. This 15 month project started with a mold made of a friends head, which underwent many stages in order to become a blown glass head (blown by myself). The stand is made of concrete reinforced with a steel rod structure embedded inside with a heat lamp element built into it.
