About The Artwork

What/who inspired the work? There was in my country the taking of the palace of justice, a military irruption by one of the guerrillas of the country and then the ministry of defense of Colombia, in order to corrupt interests between the executive, legislative, judicial branches mixed with drug trafficking and the guerrillas. This created a lack of understanding of corruption and philosophical idealism in me. In an interview the military officer in charge of the ministry of defense was asked "what are you doing general?" to which he answered "Defending democracy master" to which he was asked "with weapons general?" A phrase that would forever mark my perception of nation, country, homeland, republic and democracy. What do you expect the viewer to feel/think? A reflection between education, war and treaties. Why did you choose the medium, the theme or the style? It is an expanded drawing, that in each hand cut the silhouette is drawn on the paper, resulting in a subtle object derived from the cuts and joints of the cutter's path. Drawing that results in a 3d model without ceasing to be a drawing in my concept.

I studied Visual Arts at the Academia Superior de Arte de Bogotá ASAB - Universidad Distrital de Colombia, where I explored different techniques. From drawing, animation, video and painting in which I find a way from which to question and establish a relationship on issues that interest me as memory, social and armed conflict in Colombia and the world. My constant interest in questioning issues such as violence, politics, power and treaties, have resulted in projects such as: The Most Powerful Weapon or Contemporary Landscapes where I question the conflict and its handling in the media. In addition to the reflection on the way we are building history, memory, sociology. I propose from my work a critique of power and politics that coexist in mutual benefit as a supposed status quo. Creating a reflection with everyday objects, using metaphors of archetypes in humanity such as education and art. Complementing the central structures in my technical creation and visual concepts in each work. Achieving a semiological and contextual reflection in my work as an artist.
