The Meaning of the project It is impossible to imagine the evolution of cultures without taking in consideration the movement of human beings. Migration is a precious spring of cultural diversity. Recalling movement, strain and work, the foot is represented together with its ankle, a very fragile part carrying all the weight, and symbolizing the fragility of our times. A warning to awaken our consciences. Symbolism The sculpture IS an isolated foot, symbol of our humanity. The agent of our mobility and freedom, the human foot, is also a symbol of our destiny. It has been an icon frequently used n the art history. It is a symbol of mobility, work, walk and of any passage from a status to another one. Migration is therefore a Natural phenomenon. In The Time of Migration, the foot is in a precarious equilibrium, meaning that humanity is hanging in the balance. People have to choose if they want to fall down or to continue their walk to Hope. The sculpture underlines the relationship between migration as an international phenomenon and the personal condition of people who want to change their lives. Their personal responsibility.
