About The Artwork
The travel of a snowflake softly landing on my nose ends in a joyful tear. This work is an exploration of weaving, crocheting, collaging, and manipulating textiles. I thought of houses in Kyoto and their doorways, how Japanese invite seasons in, shoji screens and life behind a screen, mending and boro, patching as an art and as a necessity becoming intertwined, ancient temples and sacred rituals that I tried to express through the knot and its closure, solitude and meditation that come complete - in a circle - while contemplating a soft snow fall. The artwork hangs on three pushpins and is lightweight and a bit bendable and a bit rigid due to application of paint.
