Raneem Fadul is a Middle Eastern sculptor whose work expresses the relationship between her own culture, and the American culture and way of life that she has had a chance to interact with, observe, and reflect on throughout the past few years. Her concepts were inspired by the industrial nature of the area that she lives in, where she gradually realized that she was surrounded by dozens of workshops and garages. Given that her home is the spiritually-rich, fairly traditional, and non-industrial Saudi Arabia, this typical American experience has been, to her, one with much room for reflection, due to the extreme contrast. Her art is a communication between both her Saudi and American experiences, where her professional background as a graphic designer interplays with her more recent drive to explore her relationship with Art, which she pursues here in Southern California.
