Music, specifically Pop Music plays a pivotal part in my creative process. I hone in on both the lyrics and movement of the words as they are played out in a song, visualizing both shape and form, presenting a back-and-forth dialogue between objects. Sometimes my work comes instantaneous, I'm able to catch people in a moment of interaction, hyper focusing on that space created between the figures, other times I might listen to a song a thousand times thinking about and sketching the interaction that presents itself through verse. My primary medium is porcelain, which allows me to work organically, adding or removing clay during the building process. I finish my work firing to Cone 6 in an electric kiln and sandblast the glazed surface to not only add design/texture but creating a visual partnership between the pieces.
