About Sebastian Henderson
"My ongoing effort as an artist is to create work that is visually simple yet dynamic, by reducing as many reference points that are not basically visual. I subsequently arrange combinations of colour under certain rules using the versatile medium of paint. I don't claim authorship over the 'style' or 'form' of my work, and I don't think my work has a better or worse 'value' than anything else. I have broken faith with the art 'market'. All culture is emerging, not established, therefore it doesn't make sense to me to subject the practise of art or anything else for that matter to a meritocratic environment. Of course we should pursue answers, but only with a view to be open to questions. Unfortunately our value systems are based on a current socio-economic paradigm which is bent on self-preservation and institutions, yet I believe this will gradually change."
