Sophie Liard

Color is the basis of all my work. I associate words with color that I embroider by hand using traditional techniques. The painting becomes a large-format poetic evocation. Embroidering is an act that requires time, and a lot of patience and attention to detail. I would like my paintings to be simple like a song or a piece of music we particulary like, a dip in color that leave space for the imagination of the viewer: in all simplicity and without much speech.

Degree in litterature.
Selftaught artist.
I've learned traditional embroidery techniques from embroiderers who pass on a know-how from generation to generation and I reuse these techniques in a contemporary use.
