I found the idea of a man burning his own boat in the middle of the ocean to be an interesting take on self destruction. The irony is that while his boat is burning, he is surrounded by the one thing that can help him put out the fire. I enjoy contrasting the beauty of the clouds and ocean with this billowing smoke and small boat caused by this single man. I like to start these paintings with spray paint since the scale is large and i have a background in mural painting. After I layout the broad skies and waves I begin the brush work. This piece is a acrylic painted with a semi gloss varnish on a hardboard frame. I build all of my frames to ensure a solid start to work on.

I am a Wyoming based artist drawn to wide open landscapes and the great blue sky. Impressionist art is my favorite. I also have a passion for outside mural art work and the influence that murals have in their communities. http://instagram.com/ziggaziggah Vimeo.com/m/79171045
