After the Fire Painting

There is a tragic kind of beauty in the aftermath of bushfire across the landscape. The stark graphic quality of burnt trees and levelled ground. The first rapid signs of regrowth. If I was a shaman dancing for the return of rain and abundance, I would wear something like this painting. My work is influenced by indigenous art and perspectives; Infra-red imaging; The Hubble Space Telescope; aerial photography; maps: Modernism/Minimalism, and indigenous artists Rover Thomas & Jean Baptiste Apuatimi to name just two.
