About Annabel Andrews

Annabel Andrews was born in the Isle of Wight in 1940   now lives and works in El Escorial near Madrid Spain, where the colour,  light and volumes of the mountains inspire her work. As also  her friendship with the late Spanish artists Pablo Palazuelo and Jose Guerrero.

By preparing her own canvases with home made casein glue base and zinc white the work is light and luminous ready for applying acrylic colours.

While still very young she obtained honours certificate  from the Royal Drawing Society in England, and continued to study in private and municipal workshops in Gran Canaria, and on moving to Madrid, in the Fine Arts Circle. Classical techniques learn in Academia Peña (Madrid). Engraving workshop in Las Rozas and in San Lorenzo de El Escorial. Landscape course of the Prado Museum. Also learning litograph techniques, and still takes part in a live model drawing group.
