The palace, intended as a ducal residence, was designed between the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century by Ascanio Vittozzi. With the death of the latter, the works were entrusted, during the regency of Cristina de França, to Amedeo di Castellamonte. The facade has a central part flanked by two higher wings, according to a 17th century design by Carlo Morello.
