SEASHELL
The shell is a true example of accumulated time, waves and memory. Taken as a whole, as a delicate bark, the shell was an emblem for antique, the complete human being, his body and soul. Ancient symbolism made of
shells an emblem of our body which, with one outer sheath, encompasses the soul, represented an organism of mollusc, which gives life to the whole being.
Gaston Bashlar
This series of works came about after a summer where the shells collected served as inspiration. The inside of the shell and the mother-of-pearl shimmer of light led me to research the color pencils that are inherently thin. By building and thickly interlacing lines and leaving gaps, I tried to explore as much as possible the variability of mother-of-pearl.
