Landscapes of the Altiplano

A recurring theme. These are works inspired by the landscapes I can find within a small radius of the Spanish valley where I live and work. I often work plein air, sometimes bringing sketches back to the studio for further work, while at other times making return visits to a scene in order to complete the piece in situ. I am fascinated by how scenes change so fundamentally in differing weather and light, so always attempt to interact with a location in as many different sets of conditions as I can. These are the places and environments that drove me to relocate to Spain when I started to paint full-time...They are still, even after SO many hours with brush and easel, the places I love the most...
