OilGraphs

"OilGraph" is a coined term for a mixed media technique I developed in 1994 by making a hybrid of traditional, film based black and white photography with oil paint and other media. It is a reductive process in which the panell mounted photographs are covered in black oil paint and then wiped off as other colors are woven in. In 1997, on a dare, I began creating the works in live 10 minute performances for audiences. All of the works are created in the darkroom and studio with traditional materials and there is no digital elements or manipulation.
